Andres Anza

Andrés Anza (Mexico, b. 1991) works primarily with ceramics, using the medium to create highly textured, biomorphic forms that evoke familiar organic life while remaining fundamentally unrecognizable. Emerging from an intuitive and imaginative process, his practice explores the intersection of craft and contemporary art, emphasizing volume, relief, and material excess. His sculptures invite viewers to engage with them from multiple perspectives, transforming the act of looking into an encounter with both recognition and the unknown.

Anza has exhibited extensively in Mexico and internationally, with presentations in the United States, Italy, Spain, France, Denmark, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, and South Africa. In 2024, he received First Prize at the Loewe Foundation Craft Prize and was awarded an artistic residency through the Officine Saffi Award in Milan. Since 2025, he has also co-founded MORA, an artist residency program in Monterrey that hosts international artists.
